2022/23 Seasons
Our Travel Program
Our travel program is affiliated with US Club Soccer. Travel teams range from U8 to U19 for both boys and girls. Our travel program was established for the players who are interested in taking their recreational play to the next level. There is a greater commitment expected from the players for travel than there is for recreational soccer. Depending on the age bracket, players are expected to participate in the Fall, Winter and Spring Sessions.
What are the age brackets?
US Youth Soccer age brackets are based on the calendar year January 1st - December 31st. The US Soccer Birth Year Matrix:
Do I need to be resident in Winslow Township?
No, we accept players from all towns provided you can attend practice and games.
When are the tryouts?
Registration for our 2022/23 travel season tryouts completed in May 2022. There may be open spots on an individual team, please contact the travel coordinator (Boys or Girls). Please see the Tryout Information tab for more information
How do I register for the Tryouts?
If you are already registered on the site simply log in and choose the appropriate age group for the tryout, otherwise click Register in the top right corner of the screen. Once you have registered we will contact you with further information.
How do the Tryouts work?
Tryout participants will be assessed by our coaches according to predetermined criteria such as balance, agility, speed, and ball skills. This assessment will be considered in conjunction with the needs of existing teams or when creating new teams.
Can I tryout for an older age group?
Initially new travel players will be considered for an age appropriate team. However if an age appropriate team is not available players can play on a team 1 year older. This is in line with many of our existing travel players who may remain on the same team despite the age bracket changes.
What's the difference between recreational and travel soccer?
Travel is an opportunity to take soccer to the next level and requires a commitment to regularly practice individually and with the team. Although we are committed to developing all travel team players coaches do not guarantee equal playing time and players are usually required to tryout each year.
When are games held?
Girls normally play on Saturday afternoon and boys on Sunday afternoon when playing in the SJGSL & SJSL. However our older girls teams and some of our teams playing in the state wide leagues play at different times.
How far away are the games?
Half of the games will be played at our home fields on Sickler Avenue and Beebetown Road, and the rest of the games are usually up to an hour away.
How often is practice?
Practice is determined by the individual coach but is usually 2 - 3 times a week in the evening. We are extremely fortunate to have fully lit practice fields to allow training even in the darker periods of the year, and we utilize the local schools for futsal training during the winter.
What is the cost of Travel Soccer?
Each team is responsible for determining the cost, but we are generally significantly cheaper than many other programs with an average cost of $400 - $600 per year covering uniform, fall & spring league fees, and tournaments. We strongly encourage teams to explore sponsorship opportunities to further reduce costs.
What are the parental obligations?
We are always keen to welcome qualified coaches to run or assist with our teams, but we also need assistance to prepare the fields, manage team administration, seek sponsorship, and organize team events. We are a wholly volunteer led club that will be stronger with your involvement.
